For me, Hugo is more of a temporary solution until I can afford “real” insurance. I pay about $300 a month, which breaks down to around $10 a day if I keep it on for all 30 days. I often turn it off on weekends when I’m not driving much.

I’ve been using Hugo for about 6 months now, and so far, I haven’t had any issues. As a 19-year-old driver with some things on my record, I’m paying less than $200 a month, which is amazing compared to the $350-$500 quotes I was getting elsewhere.

I had a terrible experience with Hugo when I filed a claim. It’s been 5 weeks since my accident, and even though my car was picked up 2 weeks ago, I still haven’t received a check. It eventually took me 2 months to get my claim paid, and they applied some weird deductible that cost me an extra $700.

From what I’ve seen, Hugo might be good for just meeting the basic legal requirements, but don’t expect much else. They’re not really known for offering many extra perks or having great customer support.

I actually find Hugo convenient for my budgeting because I only buy insurance for the days I know I’ll be driving to work, which is about 3 days a week. This ends up costing me around $40 for those three days, compared to a higher monthly premium with traditional insurance.
