Hey community members, I’m looking into car insurance options and Hugo Insurance keeps popping up with its pay-as-you-go model. The idea of turning my insurance on and off sounds great for my budget, especially since I don’t drive every day. However, I’ve also seen some concerning comments online. Is Hugo Insurance a legitimate and reliable option, or are the potential savings not worth the risk? Has anyone had firsthand experience with them, especially when it comes to claims or dealing with the DMV?

I was in an accident with someone who had Hugo, and it’s been 6 months, and their insurance still hasn’t paid out my claim. Luckily, I have a lawyer handling it, but it shows me that their claims process might be very slow.

I’m currently paying $33 every three days for Hugo, which adds up to about $341 per month. Even though I’ve never had an accident and drive a 2011 car, this still feels really expensive and like a last resort to avoid a registration suspension.

I’ve been using Hugo consistently since March of last year, and I like that even with basic insurance, I can turn it on and off. When my car got stolen, I immediately turned off the insurance since a thief wouldn’t need it.

I totaled my car while insured with Hugo, and honestly, I feel like I was scammed by them. This makes me really hesitant to rely on them if anything serious happens on the road.
