Hey everyone, I’m trying to pick the best pet insurance for my dog, but there are so many companies like Lemonade, Trupanion, Healthy Paws, and Embrace being mentioned. It’s hard to know which one is really worth it. I’m looking for advice from people who have actually used pet insurance. What company do you have, and what’s your experience been like? Any insights would be super helpful!

I chose Spot for my puppy and got full accident/illness and puppy wellness coverage for around $70 a month (split with my partner). They offer $10,000 in coverage with a $250 deductible and 80% reimbursement, and their app makes it super easy to get reimbursed.

I’ve been with Nationwide for years and have seen my premiums increase significantly for my two dogs and cat; this year, it went up by 50%. While some people have good experiences, the constant price hikes are something to consider.

I switched to Lemonade after having Trupanion, and while Lemonade is cheaper at $20 a month, their claims process can be slow, sometimes taking 2-3 weeks for reimbursement. They also gave me a hard time covering a basic URI for my cat.

I tried Pumpkin and had a terrible experience. I paid a high premium of $176 a month for two cats and submitted claims in November, but by March, most were denied after months of delays and being told they were in “audit”. They even tried to say normal cat symptoms like vomiting were pre-existing conditions.
