Based on everything I’ve seen and read, including stories about families fighting over estates for years, the best advice I can give anyone is to get everything in writing. Verbal agreements can be easily disputed or forgotten, and proving them, especially after someone has passed, is incredibly difficult. A properly written and witnessed will or trust is the most secure way to ensure your wishes are followed.
