I’m a new pet parent and trying to figure out the best pet insurance. There are so many companies and it’s hard to know which one will actually be helpful when I need it. I’ve seen so many different opinions online. For those of you who have pet insurance, which company did you choose and why? What has your experience been like with them, especially when it comes to getting claims paid?

I went with Healthy Paws because they have annual deductibles, which made more sense to me than Trupanion’s deductibles by condition. This means I only have to meet a certain amount once per year before they start reimbursing me.

I chose Trupanion because they seem to pay out the best and have the best coverage overall if you can afford it. Some vets I’ve worked with have also recommended Trupanion.

I use Nationwide Whole Pet, and while it’s expensive at $250 per month, I thought my dog might have more health issues than he has had, so I opted for comprehensive coverage. It gives me peace of mind knowing I have good coverage.

I’ve been using Trupanion through Chewy and have been very satisfied. They are quick to respond to claims, and I was able to tailor each plan for my pets. Unlike some other companies, their monthly premiums are locked in a way, only increasing if local vet costs increase.
